• The Olcott Avenue School, designed by noted New York architect Henry Janeway Hardenbergh (1847-1918), owned a large estate in Bernardsville. Considered by architectural historians to be one of the great architects of his time, Henry Janeway Hardenbergh (1847-1918) is most well known for his New York commissions, particularly the 1884 Dakota apartment building, the 1893 Waldorf and 1897 Astoria hotels, and, most famously, the 1907 Plaza hotel. The hotels he designed were considered at the time they were built to be the finest in the world and gave him a worldwide reputation.
• The 1892 Bernards Twp tax book is filled with family names that are now synonymous with local streets – Allen, Childs, Cross, Dayton, Haas, Schley and Whitenack, to name a few. A fairly typical taxpayer was Josiah Allen, who lived on a 23-acre Allen Road farm that later became the home of the late Irwin Richardt. Allen had property and personal items assessed at $500 and $100, respectively, for a total value of $600. His property tax for the year was $3.80, including a dog tax of 50 cents.

Musical entertainment will include musical groups performing on two stages and will include a local "Battle of the Bands" event at the Henry Street stage from 1-4pm.

The nearby Oak Street school field will be the place for kiddie rides, attractions, moon bounces, slides, and other various rides for kids young and old.

The day promises to be one filled with crafts, games, rides, music, art, food, vendors, historical displays, local school and organizations' participation.
