The Surrender of General Charles Lee on December 13, 1776. This painting is by an unknown artist (late 18th Century). While General Lee is in full uniform and surrendering his sword in this rendering, it is at odds with the actual facts. He was reportedly caught in his nightshirt at the Widow White's Tavern in Basking Ridge (the corner of Colonial Drive and South Finley Avenue in Basking Ridge, NJ). Print courtesy of the New Jersey State Museum.
