The Coffee House - photo circa 1900 - Located at the northwest corner of Madisonville Road and North Maple Avenue in Basking Ridge, this was the center of what was known as the Madisonville hamlet, named for President James Madison. A tavern from 1814 to 1829, it has also been a farmhouse, store, and is a private residence today. It was the only social area between Bernardsville and Pluckemin. It is listed on the Nation Register of Historic Places.
